A golem's watch-eye is a clay eye used to create a golem, and than the magician who creates the golem will be able to see through the eye.

When Bartimaeus invaded Simon Lovelace's house to steal the Amulet of Samarkand, he noticed a golem's watch-eye in Lovelace's collection, and thought that Lovelace likely didn't know the potential of the eye.

Later, when Duvall controlled the golem that wreaked havoc on London, he used Lovelace's golem watch-eye to create the golem, and to watch what the golem did from its own perspective.
