Amanda Cathcart was the girlfriend of Simon Lovelace. She is first mentioned in the first book while conversing with Simon Lovelace, who she appeared to be relatively close to. Bartimaeus happened by the pair while making his way to steal the Amulet of Samarkand and took Cathcart's form later in the book. It was at her house that Lovelace's attempted coup later took place. After Ramuthra was successfully dismissed by Nathaniel, it is noted by the government that Amanda perished in the attempted coup, but her disappearance is not considered a great loss, as she evidently hadn't been of particular importance to the running of the Empire.
